Lauren Stamile is an actress probably best known for portraying Professor Michelle Slater on Community, Nurse Rose on Grey’s Anatomy, Carla Steele on Scandal, Agent Dani Pearce on Burn Notice, and Lydia on Workaholics. Currently she’s starring in USA Network’s Complications, a medical drama which premieres on June 18.

Lauren was nice enough to take a few minutes out of her busy schedule recently to answer a few questions from us.

1. You walk into a bar. What do you order from the bartender?

Well, I’m going to start this interview off with a bang: water with lemon, no ice. I’m still getting over that I actually walked into a bar! I currently reside in Toddler-ville, so I’ve got to be up at 5am. Mama doesn’t need to drink to feel like she’s been drinking.

2. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Twitter?

I just started using Twitter and still have no idea what I’m doing, but I’d say the Dalai Lama. The positivity and joy helps to balance all the tragic, scary and overwhelming stories on the news.

3. What’s currently waiting for you on your DVR/TiVO?

Bates Motel, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Togetherness, Mad Men and reruns of The Golden Girls and The Brady Bunch.

4. It’s your last meal — what are you going out with?

Oof. I’m gonna go to “Carb City”: pizza, tacos, tons of guacamole, squishy brownies, and peanut butter ice cream.

5. What websites do you visit on a regular basis?

Earthquaketrack.com (TERRIFIED of earthquakes), Sesamestreet.org and Amazon.com.

6. What’s the most frequently played song on your mobile device?

This changes pretty much daily but at the moment it’s “Do You” by Spoon.

7. The first face that comes to mind when you think “punchable”?

Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory – “I want a golden goose!”

8. What’s the last thing you googled?

“Purple Flowering Tree California Spring” – it turns out that it is the Jacaranda Tree that I was searching for.

9. Dogs or cats?

I don’t trust cats. Dogs are open and honest and actually excited to see you.

10. Best concert of your life was…?

I’m gonna say a three-way tie between Rufus Wainwright at The Greek Theater with Martha Wainwright opening; Fiona Apple with Jon Brion, Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins and Chris Thile at Largo; and Ben Harper at The Orpheum.

11. What book are you most likely to give as a gift?

How To Catch a Star by Oliver Jeffers. It’s a children’s book about a little boy who wants so much to catch a star but try as he may, he just can’t figure out how to make that happen. Just as he is about to give up, he finds a starfish shell washed up on the beach. He finds his star! I love the persistence and imagination in the story as well as the message that sometimes what you are searching for looks a little different than you had at first imagined.

12. What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever done for you?

I’m not a great flyer. Like it’s not uncommon for me to ask to hold the hand of the person sitting next to me during take-off –even if that person is a stranger. About two months after my husband and I had started dating, I was going to visit my family in Oklahoma on an insanely early flight. When I opened my door at 330am to take out the trash before leaving for the airport, there was a box labeled, “Emergency Airplane Kit.” Inside were printed articles on “How A Plane Flies” and “How The Most Dangerous Part of Your Flight is the Drive to the Airport” and “How to Relax When Having a Panic Attack” etc., along with every magazine you can think of, some funny cards and a ton of my favorite snacks. My husband, a man of few words but ones that really mean something, has always spoken through very loud and thoughtful actions. He is always doing the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.

13. South Park or Family Guy?

I’ve never seen either. I’ve literally never seen either! I do think those G.I. Joe PSA parodies are hysterical, though.

14. You have an entire day to do whatever you want. What would you do?

We – my husband, son and I — wake up in small town New England with my husband’s family. We’re fully rested, ache-free and I look 7 years younger! After a morning of playing in the autumn leaves, we take a walk around the lake, stop for a picnic where we got married, and then visit Crescent Ridge Dairy for some of the world’s BEST ice cream (like, 8th best in the WORLD according to National Geographic). We climb into bed for a 2-hour nap. When we wake up, we are (somehow) in Oklahoma. Spring. Visiting my family. After some gardening and competitive Scrabble, the poolside BBQ begins. With 22 people it’s chaos and we eat and laugh till we cry. A perfect afternoon. After dinner, we find ourselves (somehow, again) at home in…Los Angeles. Summer. Hollywood Bowl. After a calm (I repeat, calm) bath for my son and some stories, we discuss all the reasons we are grateful for the day and say goodnight – knowing we’ll get a solid 12 hours of sleep, our home will be clean and the fridge fully stocked in the morning. Too much to ask?

15. What movie can you not resist watching if it’s on?

Love Actually, Clue, Xanadu, Harold and Maude, Mr. Mom, 9 to 5, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Singing in the Rain, anything John Hughes. I’m sure there’s more!

16. The sports team or teams you’re most passionate about?

Not really a sports fan, but will say Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics – my husband’s from Boston. My family’s from New York originally so I owned a Yankees cap when I met my husband. Within two months, it had mysteriously disappeared and was replaced with a Sox cap.

17. Where did you eat the best meal of your life?

At my wedding. There were 28 of us – just immediate family. And aside from the day my son was born, it was the happiest day of my life, so anything would have tasted good – but the food really was great.

18. The last movie you saw in a theater?

I’ve not seen a movie in a theater since Valentine’s Day, 2014! It was Winter’s Tale. It was beautiful and romantic and it made me cry – which is exactly what I wanted.

19. Who was your first celebrity crush?

Andrew McCarthy. We had rented Pretty in Pink on our very sleek Betamax player, and not only did I watch that movie four times within 24 hours, I actually pressed “pause” in order to kiss his face on the screen. More than once.

20. What would you cook if Nic Cage was coming to your house for dinner?

Hmm…I’m kind of a terrible cook and I know that he has particular food preferences, so we would definitely being eating out.
