Everybody Wants To Be The King In A Ruthless ‘Luke Cage’ Clip

Luke Cage is joining Netflix’s line-up of Marvel heroes on September 30th, a line-up which already includes Daredevil and Jessica Jones and will soon bust out The Defenders and Iron Fist. We were already anticipating a binge watch of Luke Cage when we saw the Comic-Con sizzle reel, the first trailer, a bulletproof teaser, and a brutal clip, and now Netflix and Marvel are giving us a closer look at the show’s intimidating villain.

Cage is going to find himself running afoul of Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, played by Netflix veteran Mahershala Ali, whom you may recognize from his four seasons on House Of Cards. He’s the cutthroat crime king of Harlem, and “everybody wants to be the king” as he says, while standing before an iconic photo of The Notorious B.I.G. — a nice reference to the show’s connection to hip hop — and lines himself up perfectly with Biggie’s crown. It’s good to be the king, until Luke Cage finds you.
