Marvel Is Bringing ‘Luke Cage’ To Comic-Con In Advance Of The Show’s September Premiere

As part of their already star-studded Saturday Comic-Con schedule, Marvel is now bringing the cast of Netflix’s upcoming Luke Cage series to San Diego in a few weeks as well. The character, which premieres at the end of September, was set up during Marvel’s Jessica Jones when the titular character found herself caught up in Cage’s dreamy eyes and strong (very strong) embrace. For those unfamiliar, Cage has skin that cannot be pierced while also possessing ridiculous strength. The spinoff series will focus on his battle with Alvarez AKA Shades to protect the city from evil. If that sounds like Daredevil’s core conceit as well it’s because the concepts are indeed familiar, but the rest of the details are different enough – not to mention Mike Colter’s smoldering presence – that Luke Cage should have no trouble standing out from the rest of Netflix’s superhero stable of shows.

According to Deadline not only will the star of Luke Cage, Colter, be appearing on the panel but co-stars Theo Rossi (who you might know from Sons of Anarchy) and Alfre Woodard (who you might know from being incredible and perfect) will also be attending. Not only that, but showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker will be premiering a sneak peek at the new series for the crowd at SDCC. As if fans needed another reason to camp out all night waiting to gain access to Hall H. A full trailer hasn’t even been released yet for the show, which is strange so close to a premiere date, so one has to imagine that any glimpse of footage will make the crowd go wild.
