NBC Has Ordered A New Summer Bear Grylls Series Featuring Channing Tatum, Zac Efron, And Ben Stiller

Summer television wasteland getting you down? Well NBC has come up with a cure in the form of a new Bear Grylls reality show, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, which will air six hour-long episodes starting July 28th — each featuring a celebrity guest who will have to survive 48 hours in the wilderness with my favorite sexy British pee drinker.

In addition to Channing Tatum, Zac Efron, and Ben Stiller, rounding out the other three episodes will be Deion Sanders, Tom Arnold and Today anchor Tamron Hall. I love how it goes right from A-list to C-list — like you’ve got C-Tates and then three people who could just as easily turn up on Dancing With the Stars, if they haven’t already. Come on, NBC, Nick Offerman literally works for you. Do I have to explain everything?

Anyway, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, Bear said of the new series:

“Running Wild allows viewers to see inside the hearts and minds of these guests in a very open, honest and vulnerable way, pushing them out of their comfort zones and seeing what they are like in real life when stripped of all the benefits of celebrity,” said Grylls, who added: “Ultimately, this show is about taking these stars on the adventure of a lifetime and being alongside them when they discover something new and empowering about themselves and their world. For me, that is always a privilege.”

Whatever, Ben Stiller; Tom Arnold — I don’t really care as long as Bear Grylls is on board. And if the series is a success and NBC orders more than the original batch of six episodes, fingers crossed he brings back Ferrell, because that is just television magic that can’t be bottled.
