Neil Diamond Is An Absolutely Terrible Partner For ‘Password’ On ‘The Tonight Show’

There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t wish Will Ferrell’s Neil Diamond impression from SNL was an exact copy of the real thing. Sure that’d turn Diamond into a xenophobic, racist, and dangerous entertainer that might hang you from a balcony to make his point, but he’d also probably be a better partner for a game of Password. The real Diamond stopped by The Tonight Show and took part in the game alongside Jimmy Fallon, taking on a very pregnant Natalie Portman and J.J. Abrams.

The results were total annihilation by team Portman, winning each round with some sort of psychic precision with Abrams. This furthers the theory that leaving Hollywood and returning to school allowed Portman to cultivate psychic powers, something I’ve been kicking around in late night forums for years.

Diamond is the focus here, though, mostly due to his poor manner of play. Guessing salad and keeping that joke going throughout the game — with a little help from Fallon — really proves to be a detriment to walking away with the victory. It almost comes back to save them at the very end with mistletoe, but Diamond sabotages it by triggering the perverted side of Fallon’s mind. Leafy bush is certainly a good guess, but this is a family show. Go play flip cup or something.
