Here’s How Netflix Will Trick Your Kids Into Going To Bed Early On New Year’s Eve

Staying up until midnight is fun for kids, until the next morning. Then it’s miserable for parents, who have to deal with kids’ sleepy complaints about how tired they are. The first time I tried staying awake until the ball drop on New Year’s was when I was eight years old. I think I made it until 9 p.m. That third helping of Jalapeño Poppers should have put me down for good.

Netflix knows your pain, Mom and Dad, so they’ve devised a way to trick your dumb kids into going to bed before the clock hits midnight on New Year’s.

This year you can celebrate as a family and still have time for a parents-only party with a whole new set of New Year’s Eve countdowns on Netflix designed for preschoolers, tweens, and everyone in between. No matter where you are, start your party anytime, anywhere by searching New Year’s Eve Countdown on Netflix. (Via)

Netflix is using its kids programming, including The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show, All Hail King Julien, and Care Bears & Cousins, to let Lil’ Johnny and Julie to have a New Year’s experience, minus the puking and shameful one-night-stand, before the ball drops, because “it’s midnight somewhere.”

And when the kids are down, parents can go back to celebrating the new year… by continuing to binge their way through Making A Murderer.
