It sounds like Donald Trump’s Miss USA pageant might not be dead in the water after all. After being dropped by both Univision and NBC, a cable channel called “Reelz” has stepped in like a scab to a strike to pick up the broadcast. Reelz is reportedly available in 67 million of about 100 million cable-connected homes, and is home to fine-sounding original programming such as Hollywood Hillbillies, Beverly Hills Pawn, Celebrity Damage Control, and Polka Kings.

In a statement to CNN Money, Reelz CEO Stan E. Hubbard said:

The decision on the part of Reelz to acquire the rights to the Miss USA pageant was based on our belief that this special event, and the women who compete in it, are an integral part of American tradition.

As one of only a few independent networks, we decided to exercise our own voice and committed ourselves to bringing this pageant to American viewers everywhere.

The hell with Miss USA and American tradition, I just want to learn more about these so-called “Polka Kings.” I bet those guys can really rock an accordion.
