Samantha Bee took Monday off thanks to the debate, but it gave her plenty of time to fully work up the perfect words to capture the trouncing that Donald Trump took on the stage that night. For her and plenty of others, Hillary Clinton walked away with a clear victory that truly made a lot of the silly debate prep notes and Gennifer Flowers threats look pointless. Bee takes us through the pre-debate jitters that many people seemed to have online, including the somewhat hypocritical tips every pundit wanted to give. This includes dropping her “Hillary laugh,” not smiling too much, but still coming off as a human being. It is almost like Hillary is really just an android and we don’t get to judge her performance the same way as we would a normal human like Donald Trump.
The post-debate smile checker is a real kicker here, judging if her smile was a “real” smile or a fake one. If it was any other election, this would likely be the most ridiculous thing we’ve seen. But Trump entered the race, turned Jeb Bush into a used YMCA towel, and launched the weirdest campaign in modern history.
If you watched the debate at all, it’s hard to say that Trump managed to win unless you were deep in the pocket for the GOP candidate from the start. Many do believe it, though and Bee sent her team to get a taste of both sides at a live viewing party for the debates. The results were about what you’d expect, but entertaining in the end once both sides get to face off.
