The field for the 2016 Presidential Election is already getting pretty packed on both sides of the political spectrum. That means it’s time once again for empty promises, meet and greets, and tireless image control. SNL attempts to help out the Republican side of the debate with this cold open, giving them some strong DJ support and a chance to shine on stage at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference. Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, and the rest of the gang are all given their spot to shine a bit, but it’s the soundtrack choices that really stick out for me.

I’m pretty sure that’s Jock Jams Vol. 1 -3 at work in this clip, with a slight hint of Snoop Dogg for Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina on a motorcycle supported by “Kickstart My Heart.” This should be adopted immediate and if it doesn’t happen in reality, none of these people are trying hard enough to win my vote. Until then, I’ll be seeking out “Cotton Eye Joe” and remembering back when I thought it was cool to listen to Jock Jams.
