For Some Awesome Reason, Fox Is Developing Stan Lee’s Life Into An ‘Espionage-Thriller’

For a reason that might not make sense but also doesn’t really need to, Fox has decided that they want to turn comic book legend Stan Lee’s life into a movie. The creator of such superheroes as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and the X-Men (and current notorious cameo maker) has never publicly showed off traits that would lead people to believe he is or was ever a secret agent working for some larger power, but not showing off those traits is also what makes a spy great so who knows?

Fox has bought Lee’s life rights and supposedly the film will be set in the 1970’s when Lee was at the peak of his comic fame and industry prowess. By day, an innocent guy who has a penchant for the fantastical and heroic and by night, a super spy saving the world and bringing down the bad guys. This movie premise is definitely a big swing by the studio, but in a cinematic landscape that has more sequels, adaptations, and rehashes of old ideas more than anything else a big swing that might fail is better than the alternative. We will surely get a standard Stan Lee biopic down the line as is the usual for icons of an industry, but this is a creative alternative that has real potential.

All that’s left now is to see if Fox can pull off this bet now that they have the opportunity. With great power comes great responsibility.
