Stephen Colbert Has A Great Time Trolling Folks Having Turkey Trouble This Holiday

Butterball has run the Turkey Talk Line for 30 years according to their website, helping out the hopeless wannabe turkey cooks on Thanksgiving and other holidays with fine chat and directions over the phone. The methods have changed over the years, with Butterball “embracing digital” with Facebook, live chats, and more to keep with the times and help out people wherever they might be. At least they did before Stephen Colbert volunteered to help.

To close out his shortened week before Thanksgiving, Colbert shared two segments where he went to volunteer on the hotline to help people with their turkey woes. The only problem is instead of help, he accused them of crimes, asked them a slew of crazy questions, and blamed the entire thing on Jimmy Fallon.

Can’t really blame him for doing that. Colbert offers everything but actual help during the segment, but he does highlight an important thing. There are still plenty of people out in the real world who seem to need help from a hotline on how to prepare their turkey. Even worse, there are people who use the internet that go to Butterball for all of their major turkey preparation questions. Nobody has Google, nobody can Bing, but they can call the Butterball Turkey Talk Line. That said, it is nice to have someone to call on those lonely Thanksgiving days. If I’m cooking up an entire turkey for myself, it’d be nice to have someone to talk to.

To celebrate the day itself, Colbert uploaded a few outtakes from his time on the phone. The entire thing might be on the funnier things we’ve seen on The Late Show to this point and it’s definitely the funniest non-political thing.
