Stephen Colbert is clearly a fan of The Day After, which is surprisingly relevant today following the news on Donald Trump’s nuclear weapons curiosity. The Late Show host decides to answer Trump’s question about why we don’t use our nuclear weapons by acting out exactly what might happen if that day comes. The difference between Colbert’s Day After and the famous TV movie is how the one who ends up following President Trump’s orders ends up being hanged. No word on what happens to Trump, but I can only assume he ends up like Steve Guttenberg in the movie. He’s already half way there now.
Once he gets behind the desk, Colbert continues focusing on Trump’s recent troubles and how it seems to be never ending. The big difference today as opposed to any other day of the year is that Trump’s GOP supporters now seem to be jumping ship and tossing their support. Even Trump’s senior junior strategist is ready to jump from the campaign. He’s running out of ideas for “sick burns” and tossing his Make America Great hat on the ground in order to vote for Hillary “Rotten” Clinton. It only works on one level and young Timmy is running out steam. He’s also apparently running out of respect for his candidate.
It’s fake, but you have to feel like this is exactly what is happening at Trump headquarters deep in the swamp.
