Stephen Colbert Didn’t Let A Holiday Stop His Jokes About The Second Presidential Debate

The Late Show took a four-day weekend for Columbus Day, but that didn’t stop Stephen Colbert from filming his reaction to Donald Trump’s creepy hot mic conversation with Billy Bush. Now he’s back with another home video about the major political events he’s missing out on during this brief hiatus. He comments on the second presidential debate (aka “the night we gave up“) between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in “The Late Show‘s We’re Not Working Post-Debate Spectacular: Home Edition!”

And there’s so much material to work with, from a supercut of Trump’s sniffling to the abscence of handshakes to a song about Ken Bone to them saying something nice. Some highlights:

  • “It was a really disturbing weekend, especially for parents who had to sit down and explain to their kids who Billy Bush was.”
  • “There was no handshake. In Hillary Clinton’s defense, she now knows where that hand has been.”
  • [On Hillary Clinton repeating Michelle Obama’s advice, “When they go low, you go high.”] “I don’t know. If I saw Donald Trump going low, I would cover my crotch.”

But my favorite part was everything with Colbert’s co-host, Mister Whiskerpants. By the way, that adorable cat is available to adopt from the North Shore Animal League.
