The much hyped series of the forthcoming summer, Guillermo Del Toro’s The Strain, is out with an early teaser. Back in December, during the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead, FX debuted the first mysterious teaser without indicating what the commercial was for (we figured it out), but this is an official teaser.
Based on Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s novel of the same name, The Strain, best I can tell, is a kind of vampire/zombie hybrid: Set in Manhattan, it centers on a virus that turns everyone into vampires, and the main characters are fighting against the virus and its victims. The cast includes Corey Stoll (House of Lies), Regina King (Southland) and Sean Astin, among others. You can’t tell much from the teaser, but it should (hopefully) help to fill the void left by Breaking Bad this summer.
A couple of weeks ago, Yahoo TV also provided the first image from the series.
