‘Supergirl’ Will Find Out Who Hank Henshaw Really Is In The Midseason Premiere

When Hank Henshaw (David Harewood) revealed his identity in “Human for a Day,” Supergirl viewers were caught off guard. That’s because his namesake mirrors a DC Comics character who becomes Cyborg Superman, but in Greg Berlanti’s CBS drama, he’s actually J’onn J’onzz — otherwise known as the Martian Manhunter. In next week’s midseason premiere, “Blood Bonds,” Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) is going to find out who he really is.

According to the latest CBS promo, J’onzz will be a “new ally” for Supergirl. However, per the episode’s official description, his shape-shifting abilities and superhuman strength may not be enough to help the titular hero:

A standoff ensues between the DEO and Astra’s forces, while Kara tries to refute Cat’s allegations that she’s Supergirl.

That’s because Danvers must contend with her aunt’s Kryptonian ex-cons, the same group she and the DEO (Department of Extranormal Operations) were fighting towards the end of the midseason finale, “Hostile Takeover.” In addition, her boss Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) suspects that she is Supergirl, and these suspicions will likely fuel the rest of the season.

Let’s not forget Maxwell Lord (Peter Facinelli), Supergirl‘s version of Superman villain Lex Luthor. This time, he seems to have some kind of weird doll-bomb plot in mind, which involves capturing and beating James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) with a wrench.

Supergirl airs on Monday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m ET on CBS.
