Jon Stewart was out with an illness last night, so Jason Jones jumped behind the famed Daily Show desk at the last minute. It was probably just a one-night thing, but the decision to put Jones in Stewart’s chair does give us our first insight into the show’s post-John Oliver hierarchy.
The longtime correspondent filling in for his boss provided a perfect jumping off point for the show to tackle Joe Biden’s recent “Isn’t that a bitch?” comment about being Vice President. It also gave Jones a great opportunity to use his Jerry Seinfeld impression. Calling Biden “the Seinfeld of Vice Presidents,” Jones claimed the Veep is just a guy who “says the true things we’re all thinking.”
