Netflix and Marvel are continuing their nearly impeccable partnership with their latest supergroup offering, The Defenders. Consider this grouping of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage a dark and gritty Avengers that you can binge watch over a weekend, or a day… Or an evening. However you want to binge, you do it and you enjoy it because this is gonna be good.
The San Diego Comic Con teaser comes on the heels of the news that Daredevil season 3 has been renewed, and Luke Cage will be a big focus for Marvel in the near future. Unfortunately, Defenders is going to push back the release date of Jessica Jones season 2 due to contractual obligations to shoot Defenders as soon as possible.
That’s the one downside to Defenders — it’s taking a full Jessica Jones series from us and giving us one where she shares the spotlight, which is fine, but after watching season 1, we need the camera pointed squarely at Krysten Ritter. However, Luke Cage finally having his show released is worth it. It’s all coming together.
And it’ll be cool to see Iron Fist and Luke Cage tangling together as long as Daredevil gets his completely badass single shot action scene. It’s tradition now.
