SyFy’s New Series ‘The Expanse’ Proves That Fedoras Exist Beyond Earth

It turns out Sharknado might not be the only thing I watch on SyFy this year. The network also has a new show, The Expanse, starring Thomas Jane to roll out:

The Expanse is based on James S.A. Corey’s bestseller Leviathan Wakes, which is aiming to be the next Star Trek/Firefly/Farscape-style adventure series. The Expanse is a thriller set 200 years in the future, after mankind has colonized the solar system. The logline: “A hardened detective (Thomas Jane) and a rogue ship’s captain (Steven Strait) come together for what starts as the case of a missing young woman and evolves into a race across the solar system to expose the greatest conspiracy in human history.” The 10-episode first season will debut later this year with Terry McDonough (Breaking Bad) directing the first two episodes.

That all sounds interesting enough, though I had three takeaways from the trailer:

1. Fedoras make it beyond Earth and are scourging other planets.

2. Zero-G intercourse needs extra covers to keep from being messy.

3. Robes can make anyone look like a wuss.

Man, space travel doesn’t sound too fun.
