The First Teaser For The Final Season Of ‘The Newsroom’ Is The Most Sorkin Thing Ever

This is the first teaser for the third and final season of The Newsroom. It is literally just 40 seconds of a copier running off pages of the show’s script. That’s it. Do the pages we see the copier producing tell us something about what to expect? Well, yeah, kind of. We see text about whistleblowers and espionage, and the line “Well … I think it’s time for me to quit” attributed to Will McAvoy. Heck, you could even make the argument that it’s more informative than most teasers these days, seeing as it actually hints at the plot instead of showing disconnected explosions and dialogue like “Let’s go” or “We’ll never make it” or “GET TO THE BRIDGE” all set to slowly building wailing guitars. So there’s that.

It’s also probably the most Aaron Sorkin sh*t I’ve ever seen. I mean, promoting the dramatic conclusion of a series about the media by showing a lone Xerox machine running off hard copies of the words he’s written about an idealistic protagonist taking a stand? Sheesh. I’m just shocked they didn’t figure out a way for the copier to be walking down a hallway with Bradley Whitford as it spit the pages out.
