‘The Tick’ Provides A First Look At Arthur And The Terror In A Keen Batch Of New Images

The Tick finally returns to his nightly patrols in just a few short weeks, and Amazon has released a new batch of images that should leave you hungering for justice. We previously got a look at Peter Serafinowicz in his spiffy new Tick costume, and now we get a peek at some of the supporting cast.

First up, here’s a few shots of Griffin Newman as Arthur. It seems we won’t be seeing Arthur in his classic white moth/bunny guy outfit, although most of these pictures are probably from the first episode or two of the series. Perhaps Arthur dons the full superhero getup later.

Next, Jackie Earle Haley is our villain, The Terror. He’s no Chairface Chippendale, but I suppose he’s still looking pretty menacing.

We get a couple shots of Yara Martinez as Ms. Lint. I’m not familiar with the character from past incarnations of The Tick, but she looks like bad news.

We also get a good look at Brendan Hines as Superian, The Tick‘s Superman stand-in.

Finally, a shot of our dynamic duo together.

In the official press release, the Tick creator Ben Edlund discussed why this new incarnation of his goofy world will be must-see TV:

“This has been a labor of love for Amazon, Sony, and all of us. The only way for this to have value was if we found a wholly new expression of The Tick and Arthur’s story in live-action, and I think we’re on to something! Visually and thematically this new Tick lives in the textures and rhetoric of today’s superhero saturation tsunami — and for it to be something you want to watch for hours, it needed to find its way to a story with heart and stakes, as well as absurdism. Is it a radically new hybrid of humor and super heroic action with characters you will care desperately about? YES! Yes it is.”

Well, that certainly sounds ambitious, but if there’s anybody who can pull it off, it’s The Tick. The new series debuts on Amazon on August 19.
