‘The Tonight Show’ Got A TGIF Opening Credits Makeover That Will Fill You With ’90s Nostalgia

With the success of Fuller House and ’90s nostalgia at an all-time high, Thursday night Jimmy Fallon opened The Tonight Show with revamped opening credits in the style of all of your favorite TGIF shows to introduce Jimmy, Steve Higgins, Questlove, and The Roots. They even tapped Jesse Frederick to write and perform the theme song, the man responsible for the most quintessential ’80s and ’90s theme songs to Full House, Family Matters, Perfect Strangers, Step by Step, and others.

Maybe it’s just me, but thanks to watching Too Many Cooks too many times, I kept expecting a serial killer lurking around in the background.

Here are the lyrics of the song, compliments of the YouTube description:

When the night has fallen and the day is done,
Your soul is achin’ for that special someone.
A world gone crazy, caught up in concerns,
But a smile’s a-waitin’, you know where to turn.
Let the light shine through,
Tell everyone that you know.
Let the light shine through,
Jimmy’s on the Tonight Show.
You don’t have to travel far,
He can make you happy wherever you are.
Let the light shine through,
Jimmy Fallon, the Tonight Show, and you!

I have to admit it. Well done, The Tonight Show. Credit where credit is due. And, Questlove! That’s not a drumstick, LOL!
