The sixth season of HBO’s vampire drama True Blood debuts June 16, and this teaser trailer gives us our first glimpse of what to expect. Will there be gratuitous amounts of blood and gore? Of course. Will there be stilted, cheesy dialogue? You know it. Will there be people ripping their clothes off and being super duper intense about it? See above.
Anyway, since these kinds of teasers never really give us much to go on, let’s all take a quick second and give True Blood a shoutout for their groundbreaking work in the fields of violence and nudity. All sorts of shows are doing it now (Game of Thrones, Spartacus, Boardwalk Empire, and, to a lesser degree, basic cable shows like The Walking Dead, Justified, and Sons of Anarchy), but True Blood has been on that particular grind since 2008. Who knows where we’d be today without them showing up on the scene back then all naked and covered in blood. Let’s not forget that. To quote Confucius: “Study the past if you would define the future.” Pretty sure he was talking about vampire boobs, too.
