Until ‘Mad Men’ Returns, You’ll Have To Settle For Watching Christina Hendricks Play A Stripper

Oh, to be a fly on Roger Sterling’s vagina wall for when the cast of Mad Men gets back together later this year to film season seven. “Well, I was in Clear History on HBO,” begins Jon Hamm before Vincent Kartheiser, in a slimy snivel, interjects, “Did you voice the lead character of a Fox sitcom? Yeah, didn’t think so.” At which point, Elisabeth Moss snorts, but rather than saying anything, she instead shows off both her knuckle tattoos, each of which read “EMMY.” January Jones is still thawing from a year spent in the company freezer.

John Slattery begins to brag about season four of Arrested Development when out of nowhere, Christina Hendricks slides down a stripper pole in the middle of the room. (Oh yeah, there’s pole in the room.) She twirls around, rips off her shirt, and proudly exclaims, “I learned that. Suck it.” Bobby Draper #17 dies on the spot. R.I.P. Bobby #17.

Christina Hendricks is the latest addition to the cast of Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s Dark Places. She joins Charlize Theron, Chloe Moretz, Corey Stoll, and Nicholas Hoult in the thriller based on Gillian Flynn’s thriller.

[It’s about] Libby Day (Theron), whose family was murdered when she was a girl. At the time, she accused her brother (Stoll), even testifying against him in court, but 25 years later, the facts don’t seem so clear. Approached by Hoult’s vigilante sleuths the Kill Club, she’s forced to reevaluate her original version of events. Hendricks is playing Krissi Cates, a down-on-her-luck stripper who also has a history of accusing Stoll’s character of misdeeds, and is harboring a secret about what really happened to the Day clan. Just once, I’d like to see a movie stripper who isn’t “down-on-her-luck.” I’d also like to see a monkey play the accordion on top of a corgi wearing bunny ears. Oh well.
