In Australia last week, a politician by the name of Graham Perrett had to get three stitches under a black eye and surgical glue for a split nose after he laughed so hard at an episode of Veep that he choked on his sushi and banged his head on a granite countertop, leaving him unconscious. He also broke his glasses. The Australian lawmaker’s wife found him knocked out on the floor with “blood everywhere.”
“I must have been out for only a few seconds because, when I came to again, I was still laughing at Jonah,” he told The Guardian.
Excited to talk to this Oz politician, @GrahamPerrettMP, who laughed so hard at TV show @VeepHBO he did this. On @bbc5live 10.30 #5livedaily pic.twitter.com/uALCSyYp39

After reports that a man literally injured himself watching Veep broke, Julia Louis-Dreyfus to took Twitter to express her disbelief.
I mean, c'mon, I'm actually having a hard time believing it. But the real question is – what episode? https://t.co/sqGyRT8e0z

As it turns out, the episode was this season’s premiere episode, and the scene in question involves Jonah being caught shaving his head to continue milking sympathy from the public after his bout with cancer.
Episode One in this new series. Where Jonah has the close shave. Pure gold, your highness!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Here’s that scene:
Louis-Dreyfus offered her condolences on Twitter, although Simons — who plays Jonah on Veep — was typical Jonah in his response:
Well, thank you very much. Take good care of yourself and for God's sakes – be careful!

David Mandel, the series’ showrunner, told the Australian Guardian that he was “very glad someone thinks the episode was as funny as we do”.
“I can think of a few officials in the USA that I may send the episode. With any luck, their wives won’t be home.”
Our advice to the Australian MP is to consider wearing a helmet for the rest of the season’s episodes.
