After 24 Years, Bob Schieffer Has Signed Off As Host Of ‘Face The Nation’

Since 1991, Bob Schieffer served as moderator and host of the CBS Sunday news program Face The Nation. After manning the desk for 24 years, Schieffer signed off with his final episode earlier Sunday morning.

The above clip finds the seasoned news man humbly reflecting on his years in the business which entailed everything from going behind police lines and talking with soldiers on the battlefield, to interviewing politicians and even the president.

I’ll be honest, I’m going to miss being in the middle of things, but the one thing I will never forget is the trust you placed in me and how nice you were to have me as a guest in your home over so many years. That meant the world to me; it always will.

Schieffer initially announced his plans to retire back in April. John Dickerson — the current Political Director of CBS News — will take over moderating duties on Face The Nation beginning Sunday June 7th.
