Watch The First Trailer For HBO’s Rock Drama ‘Vinyl,’ From Martin Scorsese And Mick Jagger

We heard a little about HBO’s new series Vinyl a few months ago, and saw a brief teaser a little more recently than that, but now we have our first proper look at it in this new new trailer.

Quick refresher: The show is the brainchild of Martin Scorsese, Mick Jagger and Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter, and is set in the 1970s New York music scene. HBO describes it as “a ride through the sex- and drug-addled music business at the dawn of punk, disco, and hip-hop” that is “seen through the eyes of a record label president, Richie Finestra, played by Bobby Cannavale, who is trying to save his company and his soul without destroying everyone in his path,” which sounds good and everything… I also kinda wanna watch Bobby Cannavale just go ahead and destroy everyone in his path? At least some of the people in his path? That seems like a fair compromise. What’s the point of even casting Bobby Cannavale if you’re not gonna let him destroy people in his path? But I don’t need to tell Scorsese and Winter that. They had a pretty good handle on it in Boardwalk Empire. They’ll figure it out.
