Moments after Kevin Spacey won his first Golden Globe last night (after eight nominations), Netflix premiered the first 30-second spot for season three of House of Cards during the broadcast (DID THEY KNOW HE WAS GOING TO WIN?). When we last left House of Cards, Spacey’s character, Frank Underwood, had ascended to the presidency through sneaky, underhanded means.
The trailer doesn’t give much away, at all. We know that Jimmi Simpson — who played a hacker in season two — will be back. We know that someone will die (based on the funeral), and we know that Frank and Claire will struggle to hang on to their power, presumably by covering up scandals. That’s about all we know, which suits me just fine.
The third season of House of Cards will debut on Netflix on February 27th.
