Weekend TV Preview: What The Hell Is ‘True Blood’ Doing?

True Blood/The Leftovers (HBO, Sunday, 9:00-11:00 p.m.) – If you’re not reading Burnsy’s recaps of the disaster that True Blood has become, I recommend you go back and fix that immediately. Even if you don’t watch the show. There’s a perverse pleasure to be found in watching someone go slightly more insane each week in the name of art. I have no idea if/how he’s going to make it through the whole season. This is the most interesting aspect of the show to me right now, by far.

Crossbones (NBC, Friday, 10:00 p.m.) – Speaking of disasters… Hoo, Dolly. If you see John Malkovich out in public, ask him if he’s, like, okay. I’m legitimately worried.

Bet on Your Baby (ABC, Saturday, 8:00 p.m.) – A) I refuse to look this show up. B) I have chosen to believe that it features a giant Slip & Slide roulette wheel that parents toss their infants into before placing wagers on what number they will land on.

Reckless (CBS, Sunday, 10:00 p.m.) – I spent months making fun of Cam Gigandet’s dumb legal show and then it premiered and I proceeded to not watch a single second of it. I am terrible at my job.

Halt and Catch Fire (AMC, Sunday, 10:00 p.m.) – This week, “Scandal hits Cardiff Electric as the team finalizes preparations for COMDEX. Meanwhile, Bosworth makes a sacrifice for the good of the PC program.” READER POLL: Is this show any good at all or what? Y/N. (Letters only, plz.)

Naked and Afraid: Uncensored (Discover, Sunday, 9:00 p.m.) – Unless Discovery means something I do not believe they mean, we’re throwing around the word “uncensored” awfully loosely here. I won’t stand for it. (More on naked reality shows here.)

The Strain (FX, Sunday, 10:00 p.m.) – From TV Guide: “Strange symptoms begin to show in the four survivors. Meanwhile, Setrakian gets a surprise visitor.” My guess? Sinbad. It would improve the show 5000%.

Masters of Sex (Showtime, Sunday, 10:00 p.m.) – Not only is this probably the best show currently running on Sunday nights, but now they’ve gone and added extortion to their steady diet of smart dialogue and sexy business. What more could any of you ask for? (Last week’s Season 2 premiere is still up on YouTube, if you want to check it out.)

The Last Ship/Falling Skies (TNT, Sunday, 9:00-11:00 p.m.) – There are too many things on TV on Sundays. I vote we combine these into one show and move it to Thursdays.
