What’s On Tonight: ‘Narcos’ Returns For A Truly Great Season 2 And College Football Kicks Off

Narcos (Netflix) — The first season of Narcos gave us some incredible drama — at times, a bit too much of it. While season one packed a lot of storytelling into ten episodes, season two is shrinking the story back down, focusing on Pablo Escobar during his final days, on the run after escaping from prison. With the law and his rivals hunting him, expect the action this season to pick up, along with the acting and the plot. If season one of Narcos was good, season two has found a way to become great.

College Football: Appalachian State vs. Tennessee (SECN, 7:30 p.m.) — College football officially kicks off this week. While most of the big games are happening this weekend, some interesting matchups take place tonight including this one. App State takes on Tennessee in Knoxville. The Volunteers are expected to come away with the win, but don’t count the Mountaineers out.

BattleBots (ABC, 8:00 p.m.) — In the first part of the combined season two finale, eight teams battle it out in the quarterfinals before four head to championship round.

Big Brother (CBS, 9:00 p.m.) — Another houseguest gets evicted.

Cheer Squad (Freeform, 10:00 p.m.) — The team goes up against an old rival at Nationals and one squad member’s gift for her boyfriend doesn’t go as planned.

Nick Cannon Presents: Wild ‘N Out (MTV, 10:00 p.m.) — Bella Thorne and Jadakiss compete in “Talking Spit,” “Flow Job,” “Hip Hop History” and the “Wildstyle” battle.

Queen of the South (USA, 10:00 p.m.) — Teresa and Brenda use information from Guero’s book to begin their new life as Teresa aligns with the Jimenez cartel and brings her operation underground.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (FX, 10:00 p.m.) — Johnny tries his hand at going solo and Gigi pursues a new direction.

Tracks (Spike, 10:30 p.m.) — Spike has been having some good luck with musical shows and it looks like they’re continuing the trend with this new series that has contestants trying to guess song titles after listening to individual musical tracks. Christina Aguilera makes a guest appearance.
