What’s On Tonight: ‘Big Brother’ Is Back, ‘American Gothic’ Premieres And Bill Simmons Gets His Own HBO Talk Show

Any Given Wednesday With Bill Simmons (HBO, 10 p.m.) – Bill Simmons is back to give the big middle finger to ESPN with his new HBO talk show that covers everything from sports and culture to entertainment and technology. The show’s rumored to be a mix of videos, one-on-one interviews and round table segments which makes sense as its tagline is the “sport of conversation” and he’s going big with his first guest, fellow New England-er and the guy currently wearing the Bat suit, Ben Affleck.

Big Brother (CBS, 8 p.m.) – We can now officially say that we’ve been alive for 18 seasons of Big Brother. (Lucky us.) Tonight’s premiere sees 12 contestants already making mischief inside the house before four “mystery guests” show up to cause even more trouble.

American Gothic (CBS, 9 p.m.) – This new series coming from The Good Wife producer Corinne Brinkerhoff may not be the first of its name but it does look pretty intriguing. In tonight’s premiere, a prominent Boston family discovers their recently deceased patriarch may have been linked to a series of murders several decades earlier.

MasterChef (Fox, 8 p.m.) – The cooks split up into teams to create appetizers and entrees for season six contestant Nick Nappi’s wedding reception.

Young & Hungry (Freeform, 8 p.m.) – Elliot learns how to be an outdoorsman to impress Alan as Gabi and Sofia compete for a promotion at work.

Baby Daddy (Freeform, 8:30 p.m.) – Ben invites Bonnie’s estranged mother to a family weekend event at Emma’s preschool. Things go downhill from there.

Maron (IFC, 9 p.m.) – Marc’s visit to a new therapist results in a run-in with his ex-wife.

Wayward Pines (Fox, 9 p.m.) – We see the very beginnings of Wayward Pines as Rebecca remembers a meeting with Pilcher as an architect. Elsewhere, Megan experiments on a captured woman; Theo learns a shocking secret; and Teresa reveals her plans to live outside the wall.

Another Period (Comedy Central, 10 p.m.) – Thank God for marriage annulments. Lillian and Beatrice are freed from their matrimonial duties — though that doesn’t stop the pair from squabbling over Butternut rooms with their former spouses — and Garfield clashes with a new servant.

Royal Pains (USA, 10 p.m.) – As Hank deals with a woman paranoid that she’s inherited a deadly disease, Eddie makes a medical decision without Hank’s approval.

The Night Shift (NBC, 10 p.m.) – It’s time for The Night Shift to take on the Black Lives Matter topic (Chicago P.D. recently aired a similar episode on the issue). Tonight, a looming jury verdict impacts the night shift as they help the man at the center of the racially charged case.

Cleverman (Sundance, 10 p.m.) – As the Hairies are blamed for the continuing attacks on humans, Waruu pressures Koen to use his powers to stop the murders.
