Rescue Me (FX) — I’m pissed that Jon Stewart razzed Denis Leary on last night’s “Daily Show” about “Rescue Me’s” Derek Jeter promo, because I’d been meaning to make fun of it for ages. Um, Derek Jeter grew up in Michigan, and Denis Leary is a Red Sox fan. It’s a terrible mix of fiction and real life, and I hate it.
Warehouse 13 (Syfy) — Season premiere. Oh no! That’s the unlucky warehouse!
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (USA) — Season finale. A boxer gets busted for his involvement in a dogfighting ring. Hmmm, I wonder if that was inspired by a prominent news story.
Hell’s Kitchen (Fox) — Here’s the thing I can never understand about super-popular network reality competitions like this and “American Idol” and “Dancing with the Stars” and the like: it’s a two-hour show. TWO HOURS, man. And most of it is filled with blather and commercials. I just can’t live with my life being so egregiously wasted by ads and poor editing.
Downtown Girls (MTV) — Season finale. I am so, so happy that I don’t know anything about this show.
The Last Lion of Liuwa (Animal Planet) — TV Guide: “Follow the only remaining lioness of Africa’s unforgiving Liuwa Plain as she fights to survive.” Good Lord, that sounds depressing.
Cupcake Wars (Food) — Can’t the Last Lion of Liuwa be turned loose in this competition? It seems like the fair thing to do for a lion who’s come upon hard times. And it’d make for excellent television. Go lion!
Louie (FX) — This was absolutely outstanding last week. Check Warming Glow in another for hour for a SPECIAL FOLLOW-UP POST regarding “Louie.” Hooray, bonus content!
