Just two weeks into the new era of The View, Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O’Donnel are at each other’s throats! Amid the best ratings The View has seen in eight years, Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg threw down in between a commercial break last Thursday in a confrontation that left the studio audience in stunned silence.
According to the NYDaily News, the argument started because Whoopi cut Rosie off during a conversation on spanking for a commercial break. Rosie didn’t know about the impending commercial because apparently she refuses to wear an earpiece, so she was caught off guard by Whoopi’s interruption. She was very upset by it, and confronted Goldberg.
Goldberg tried to calm O’Donnell, noting: “This isn’t the time for this, Rosie.”
But O’Donnell wouldn’t drop the subject. “It makes me upset and I just don’t want to have to go through this,” she complained.
Goldberg, clearly annoyed, shot back: “I said this was not the time, Rosie.”
Undaunted, O’Donnell continued to rant until Goldberg snapped, “F— it, I told you to leave it alone and you just don’t want to listen. If you want to go there, Rosie, I will, damn it. I’m really sick of your s—!”
After the commercial break, the pair acted as if nothing had happened.
Apparently, after the blow-up, the studio audience was stunned into silence until Rosie Perez broke in, ““Oh, s—, Twitter is going to be off the hook now.”
See? This is The View we love, the one with two very outspoken, Type-A control freaks are forced to share the same stage. One of them (Goldberg) has to keep everything running smoothly, and the other one (O’Donnell) is a monster! And if they are at each other’s throats like this after two weeks, it’s only a matter of time before these profanity-fueled spats end up on the telecast.
