Standing Dead Body Pose

When people die, the normal routine is to embalm them, put them in an expensive box, have people chant religious things, put flowers around them, and then bury them 6 feet underground. Wait, that’s the normal thing to do? WTF?! So, honoring the dead person’s last wish by posing with their dead body in a fake boxing ring is totally normal. Via New York Post:

The family of a Puerto Rican boxer — who was shot to death last week — honored his dying wish on Friday by propping up his corpse in the corner of a fake boxing ring to memorialize his career.

Like an ashen wax figure, Christopher Rivera’s pale, embalmed body was positioned in the corner of the ring decked out in boxing gloves, a hoodie, shades and sneakers.

I wonder if anyone tried to punch him, and then got yelled at. I mean, it’s not like he isn’t suffering nature’s great knock out, right?

Rivera’s mother, Celines Amaro, wife Lidianette Carmona and son Julio Christopher posed with the body that looked ready to pull out its next upper cut.

Mourners took cellphone shots of the corpse. Some pointed at him and imitated his figure.

The simulation of a boxing ring was set up at the community recreation center of the public housing project where he lived in San Juan. A single white candle was positioned in the center of the ring.

Despite humanity’s already strange post-death ceremonies, it’s pretty cool that his family and community went out of their way to give him what he wished when he was dead. When I die, I want the whole casket thing, but have ‘Spanish Flea’ by Herb Alpert play on repeat throughout. Someone also take my phone and check me in on Facebook at the funeral home. Although, I’d really be checking out. Zing!
