Teeth Dream, the Hold Steady’s sixth studio album, came out today. Unfortunately, it sounds like the first, maybe second draft to the final copy that is Separation Sunday, or Boys and Girls in America, or even Stay Positive. It holds back when it should roar; in other words, it’s a maiden fair, not a bear. But the Hold Steady is still a must-see live act, even when they’re performing in the shiny confines of the Late Show studios.
Here they are playing “Spinners,” featuring Craig Finn doing his trademark spastic dance.
