Congratulations are in order for 1-year-old drummer extraordinaire LJ Wilson. He’s managed to restore the term “baby genius” back to its rightful level of glory and make those of us that stunk at the soprano recorder in elementary school feel even more like a dork.
The Internet™ is going wild over a video of this talented tyke playing the drums. (It’s nestled at the top of the post if you’d like to take a gander.) LJ has managed to score over one million views in less than two weeks and that number seems likely to swell even further. His parents are both musicians, although LJ is the only drummer in the family. Dad Justin plays piano and mom Shelana is a singer.
“Once he got some sticks in his hand, it was clear that he was gifted,” said LJ’s proud papa when chatting with NBC’s Today. “I’m a musician so I was like ‘whoa’ — he’s doing something pretty complicated.”
Of course, you don’t have to be a musician to be dazzled by LJ’s skills. It’s pretty clear this adorable lil’ dude is something special. Justin says he and his wife are happy to let their son enjoy the drums in his own style.
“We definitely are the type to just let him figure it out and providing him with whatever he needs,” he shared. “Right now, it’s just about having fun.”
