Beyond Grumpy Cat: 11 Personality-Filled Pets To Follow On Instagram

With pictures of pets being one of the internet’s most popular exports, it’s no surprise that Instagram, the leading image-based social-media network, has helped elevate many of them to the rank of internet stardom. Here, we take a look at 11 of the most personality-filled pets that are worth following.

Marnie the Dog

Adopted from a New York shelter when she was 12, Marnie stands as a testament to the value of adopting senior dogs. Currently, 1.5 million followers keep up with her frequent costumes and signature lopsided tongue. She also has a number of celebrity friends, including Laverne Cox from Orange Is the New Black and Jesse Pinkman himself, Aaron Paul.

George the Cat

This costume-loving cat has already made news, thanks to his Walter White costume, George displays quite the range on his Instagram, from Jaws to Macho Man Randy Savage. Viewers are encouraged to share their favorite photo of George, provided he gets the proper credit.

Tuna

This Chiweenie, a mix of Chihuahua and Dachshund, gained widespread fame thanks largely to his signature overbite. With more than a million followers, this one-time homeless dog has had its fame result in a book deal, which tells the story of his unexpected rescue and meteoric rise to becoming “the underdog with the overbite.”

Hamilton, the Hipster Cat

Earning his moniker from his unique facial coloring, which resembles a pretty serious hipster ‘stache, Hamilton has parlayed his Instagram popularity into his own smartphone app.

Buddy, Boo, and Blue

A trio of adorable dogs, Boo, the Pomeranian on the right, holds the distinction of being the world’s cutest dog, at least according to Google. While Boo’s substantial popularity is a subject of some controversy, there’s no denying the appeal of two Pomeranians and a Golden Retriever together.

Richard Kitty

Adopted from a shelter when he was 2, Richard Kitty is best identified by the strikingly different colors in each of his eyes. He also lays claim to Antonio Banderas as his spirit human. Don’t we all?

Harlow, Indiana, and Reese

This was originally an account documenting Harlow, a Weimaraner, and her miniature Dachshund companion, Sage. However, once Sage died, another miniature Dachshund named Indiana became Harlow’s new companion. That following year, Reese, yet another miniature Dachshund, joined in on the fun. Their well-documented hijinks have became widely popular online to the point of celebrity parody.

Bailey

Bailey is a 1-year-old Alaskan Klee Kai, a specialty breed that’s essentially a miniature Alaskan husky, which, come on, is adorable.

Jack the Cockatiel

Described as a “lovable and curious” cockatiel residing in Brazil, Jack’s photographs are frequently shot against a stark white background and assorted props, making him one of Instagram’s most recognizable pets.

Silly Mr. Eddie

A Pug residing in Miami, Silly Mr. Eddie has a knack for showing off his goofiness in photos that defy standard pet-photo convention.

Alien Cat Matilda

A newcomer to Instagram pet fame, Matilda developed a still-undiagnosed condition in her eyes shortly after her first birthday. Despite her unusual appearance, she appears to be in no pain — though her people are looking for any cats that may experience similar symptoms to help better understand her condition.
