A Brief Word About Veterans Day

All day I’ve been trying to think of something unique and interesting to say to commemorate Veterans Day, and, well, I got nothing. Unlike some members of the UPROXX family, I never served and it’s something that I at times regret tremendously. However, occasionally I’m reminded of how my dad took a bullet as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam and didn’t feel comfortable talking about his experiences there until I was well into adulthood — and at those times I’m thankful that I never did have to go to war and deal with the things he had to deal with.

So really I suppose the best thing for me to say to any veteran reading this site is the simplest: thanks. Thank you for your service to our country. Thank you for being braver than I could ever possibly hope to be. While I’m sure it may seem in modern times that the scope of your sacrifices are lost on all who never walked in your shoes, I can assure you that there are plenty of us who recognize what you did and are appreciative for you having done so. I wish there was some way that I could buy you all a drink on this Friday night. Again, simply — thanks.
