After several weeks in the unemployment line, Marissa Holcomb — who is five-months pregnant — is being offered her job back at the Popeye’s restaurant in Houston she managed, but she’s not so sure she wants it back.

Holcomb was doing her job just fine when, one day, an armed robber pointed a gun at her, demanding that she open the safe. Unable to comply with his demands, she instead handed over the cash in the register, totaling at least $400. Less than 36 hours later, she was fired after she was asked to reimburse the money stolen. She refused. “I told them I’m not paying nothing,” she said. “I just had a gun to me. I’m not paying the money.”

The shift manager was also fired for continually leaving too much cash in the register, but that particular day, Popeye’s had a “$1.19 special on two-piece chicken meals,” which accounts for the overabundance of money at hand.

Popeye’s has since apologized, and the CEO of the restaurant chain, Cheryl Bachelder, weighed in on the incident:

“The restaurant is operated by an independent franchisee of the Popeye’s brand. We have spoken to the local franchise owner of the restaurant, and he has taken immediate action to reach out to the employee to apologize and rectify the situation. While the facts are gathered, we will closely monitor this until it is appropriately resolved. We deeply regret the distress this situation has caused.”
