‘Action Comics’ Loses Its Writer As Superman Continues To Be Creator Kryptonite

The drama surrounding Superman creators continues to be more interesting than Superman comics themselves. First artist Chris Sprouse decided against illustrating Orson Scott Card’s Adventures of Superman story, and now an even more significant departure — Andy Diggle, has left Action Comics.

Diggle was set to take the reins from Grant Morrison on Action Comics, one of DC’s highest profile writing assignments, but yesterday he tweeted that he’s “decided to walk away from Action Comics for professional reasons.” Diggle hasn’t elaborated on what those “professional reasons” are, and is generally being very contrite about the whole thing, but clearly something has gone seriously awry with the Superman editorial team.

Okay artist/terrible writer Tony Daniel will finish Diggle’s storyline. Ugh.
