A Philadelphia man who often dresses as Batman and named his daughters HarleyQuinn and Bat Girl has been arrested for stalking a celebrity. No, not Adam West or Maggie “sad turtle” Gyllenhaal or Christian Bale or even Cillian “she’s kinda hot” Murphy. This Batman has only the finest taste in stalking victims: Kathryn Erbe, that actress I keep forgetting exists until I’m watching a “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” rerun at 3 a.m.
[Charles] Nagle, of the Far Northeast, apparently often dresses up as Batman and has met Adam West, who played the caped crusader in the 1960s TV series, five times, he told the Northeast Times in 2005. Phone pals and toy dealers called the 36-year-old husband and father a “Batman historian,” according to the article.
“He thinks he’s Batman,” neighbor Catherine DeMasi said yesterday.
And it just gets weirder from there. Man, I can’t wait to see how Law & Order handles this “ripped from the headlines” story. I predict a comic book store owner (played by Charlie Day), who often dresses as The Night Man, is arrested on suspicion of murder after the famous actress he’s been stalking is murdered. But he’s innocent, of course, because his character was introduced in the first scene. The real murderer is somebody introduced at minute 17. Doorman? Production assistant? Blogger? Adam West? Doesn’t matter who, as long as they’re introduced 17 minutes into the show. I’ve watched too much Law & Order.
I confess, this was all just an excuse for me to post pictures of Batman cosplayers getting arrested:
