Corey Feldman Wants You To Know He’s Sorry About Dropping The American Flag

Frequently misunderstood pop firebrand Corey Feldman is apologizing for a gaffe that occurred during his triumphant (and patriotic!) return to Today. Mind you, as far as Today-affiliated scandals go, this is certainly the preferable kind.

Feldman’s return to NBC’s morning show featured the actor/singer/fashion plate waving the American flag as part of his performance of “Take A Stand.” Nothing to take issue with there, right? Well, Feldman dropped the flag during the song to dance and that wasn’t taken too kindly online by folks that like monitor flag treatment on broadcast television. Speaking to People, the “Ascension Millennium” tunesmith offered up an apology and a perfectly reasonable explanation for the flag hitting the floor.

“We were excited and grateful to be asked to return to the Today show, but there wasn’t much time to prepare. We scrambled to find an American flag to use as a patriotic symbol at the last minute and with no rehearsal,” he stated.

“Once I was on stage, my brain reverted to my choreography, which was to throw my hands up in the air with a peace sign. As a dancer, my instinct is to drop anything in my hands.”

As anyone who has seen a Corey Feldman performance knows, coreyography choreography is a major part of the package. Feldman acknowledged that what he did was a mistake and he genuinely feels bad about the incident.

“In that live moment, it came off as wrong and for that I’m deeply sorry,” shared Feldman. “It was the exact opposite of my intention.”

We’ve got your back, Corey. We look forward to your next Today performance. Bring Skrillex with you next time if you can.
