It’s happening again. Every few months or so, it seems like some town or community experiences instances of some a-hole dressing up like a creepy clown, terrorizing local residents. It happened back in Northampton, England, back in 2013 (and that one was especially terrifying since the person dressed as Pennywise the Clown from It, specifically); Staten Island and Wasco, California, in 2014; and a Chicago cemetery (shudder) and small town Wisconsin in 2015.
Why? Why?? At any rate, this time Green Bay, Wisconsin is the lucky recipient of a creepy-ass motherf*cker clown. The clown was apparently first spotted in downtown Green Bay around 2 a.m. on Tuesday (peak clowning hours), and suffice to say residents are unnerved. Unfortunately, police are limited in their options to deal with this walking nightmare.
“A person can walk down the sidewalk dressed however they want as long as they’re in a place they legally can be, and they’re not in a place that has a closing time, like a park,” said Captain Kevin Warych with the Green Bay Police Department.
Not everyone is upset, however. Some locals even created a Facebook page to document sightings of the clown, which has been affectionately named “Gags” for some reason. But so far no one appears to know the clown’s real identity.
