Everyone Knows 'Calvin & Hobbes' Is Great, But Now It's 200K-Per-Page Great

Oh, Calvin & Hobbes — if you grew up in the 80s/early 90s the very mention of possibly the last truly great syndicated comic strip puts a little nostalgic ache in your heart. Ever wondered what that nostalgia might be worth monetarily? How about 200K per page?

That’s right, an original 1986 Sunday strip, one of the few that Calvin & Hobbes creator Bill Watterson ever parted with, went up for auction recently and sold for and impressive $203,150. You can check out the strip for yourself after the jump…

Hell, that’s not even a particularly funny/memorable Calvin & Hobbes. I can only imagine how much one of the classic T-Rex or “Spaceman Spiff” Sunday strips would have sold for. So yeah, Bill Watterson is definitely, definitely never coming out of retirement now that he knows he can grab a random half-dozen old strips from his files and have a million-dollar garage sale any time he wants. Sigh.
