Brian Okam Makes History, Shoots Worst Free Throw Ever

There’s air balling a free throw. Then there’s ensuring you don’t get laid for an entire week because of a missed free throw. The following video is just that.

Appalachian State’s Brian Okam stepped to the line for what appeared to be a status quo free throw attempt during a game against Western Carolina University. The junior center appeared confident, seemed to have a nice routine, but it all went downhill – or shall I say directly in the air – causing Dr. James Naismith to roll over in his grave.

There really isn’t a way to describe the monstrosity that went on here; even announcers Kyle Rush and Philip Jackson were unsure how to call critique the moment. Not to much surprise, however, the free throw line has never been Okam’s home-away-from-home. The Rutgers transfer had just been 3-for-5 from the line in his two year stint at App State.*

Maybe this young fella can take some pointers from Dwight Howard, who has been having his own never-ending story from the free throw line in this still-young NBA season. At least D12 hits the rim though.

* – According to Yahoo!, the ceiling scrapping-miss propelled Western Carolina to a late run ultimately resulting in a 70-64. Talk about insult to injury.
