Jean-Claude Van Damme took to his Facebook page this week to mention the time he met Stan Lee, and then he made a statement we can’t possibly ignore. So worthy of response was this statement that we immediately scoured the internet for GIFs to express all of our feels. So many feels.
Van Damme, who worked with Liam Hemsworth on The Expendables 2, may have read just a little too much into something Hemsworth said in passing about his brother. Says Jean-Claude Van Damme:
I read that Chris Hemsworth (star of Thor and brother of Liam Hemsworth, The Expendables 2) would like me to costar in The Avengers 2 movie! Well, it would be fun to play one of these types of amazing comic book characters again. By the way, I am a big fan of Marvel’s superhero Silver Surfer and also another heroic fictional character known as Doc Savage – the Man of Bronze!
I couldn’t find anything in print about Chris Hemsworth suggesting this (which is why I think Van Damme just misinterpreted a conversation with Liam Hemsworth). [UPDATE: Holy sh-t, he actually did say it.] But regardless of who said what, this magnificent Facebook update now exists for all time. Jean-Claude Van Damme thinks he could be the Silver Surfer or Doc Savage in Avengers 2, you guys. Isn’t that adorable?
Sadly, neither of these characters can make it into The Avengers 2. The rights to Silver Surfer are still tied up over at Fox as part of the Fantastic Four stable of characters, while Doc Savage, despite appearing in Marvel Comics in the ’70s, is owned by DC Comics these days. [Blastr]
