Superchunk’s Jon Wurster Has Been Tweeting Excerpts From The Autobiography Of Kiss’ Peter Criss, And It’s Inspiring

The wonderful Jon Wurster, of Superchunk and the Mountain Goats, snagged an early copy of Makeup to Breakup: My Life In and Out of Kiss, the autobiography of drummer Peter Criss, and has been tweeting excerpts from it for all to admire. The book is just as revelatory as you’d except from a guy who recorded a song called “Calling Dr. Love” in a bathroom. Makeup to Breakup comes out this Tuesday, the 23rd, and based on Wurster’s tweets, I may buy it for my friends, parents, and grandparents, who will surely see the humor in Criss writing, “The SS’s didn’t symbolize the Nazi SS, despite the fact that Ace would get drunk & run around in full Nazi SS uniform.” Then we’ll sing “Dance All Over Your Face” all night, though not every day. They’re old.

“Sexual Smorgasbord with Binoculars and Telescopes” sounds like the greatest song never written.
