This Lucky Teen Was Almost Struck By Lightning While He Was Filming A Thunderstorm

There are endless examples of the cruel, random power that is nature. Time and time again, it is driven home that nature doesn’t give a sh*t if you live or die. However, once in a while, one lucky human manages to tempt fate and live to fight another day. 16-year-old Ethan Riozzi-Bodine is one of those people.

While walking home from his job as a lifeguard at Bradley Beach, NJ, the bleach blonde bro got caught in a thunderstorm, and after taking not-so-safe shelter, did what many his age do in a crisis: whipped out his cell phone and decided to document with video. Luckily for us, he managed to capture the shock of nearly getting hit by lightning, with a massive bolt hitting the ground mere feet from where he stood. While he took a precautionary trip to the ER, he was given a clean bill of health (whether or not he needed to change his shorts when he got home remains to be seen).

Bodine said that he was told that the only thing that saved him was the fact that he was holding his bike, with the rubber acting as a safeguard. While it was surely a traumatizing event, Bodine seems pretty upbeat about the entire ordeal.

“Now that it’s over I can say it was cool, but during the whole process of it happening I was not cool at all.”

Nah, brah. Not cool at all.
