This ‘Millennials of New York’ Instagram Might Make You Weep For The Future

This Instagram account, “Millennials of New York,” which has been around for nearly two months now, is finally sticking it to the “me” generation, often criticized for being entitled and self-involved — and yes I am aware of how tragically old and non-millenial is makes me seems for using the phrase “sticking it to.” While these are ostensibly photos of real-life millennials in their native habitat of New York City, the captions, of course, are parody. And thank goodness for that, because they make Abbi and Ilana of Broad City look like Rhodes scholars.

Although Instagram seems to be the social-media choice for discerning millennials, Millennials of New York also has a Facebook page, which one brave millennial used to share his defense of his fellow peers:

in our defense i must say this generation is only a product of a decadent age which was not constructed by us. The materialistic, selfish culture based on a gigantic machine of exploitation and consumerism has been left to bloat out of proportion by the baby boomers, the generation that has squandered more resources and cared less for future generations than any other in the history of humankind. I actually think in my generation there are lots of brilliant and innovative people who can change this.

Lazy, inconsistent capitalization… Typical millenial. Anyway, here are some of our favorites:
