A Mysterious Note Potentially Worth $300 Took Over The Internet Yesterday

In February 2014, Redditor Jason Dang found a note inside a book in a nearby café. This wasn’t your typical grocery list or something Ryan Gosling might write to Rachel McAdams.

It had a very specific message.

Yesterday, on May 27, 2015, Dang went back to the café, because how could he not? Best-case scenario: He’s $300 richer. Worst-case: Someone murders him. Worth it. He put up a sign on Wednesday morning that read, “I have the note! (and your passcode),” and informed the staff that he’d be there all day. Reddit followed Dang’s every update, and even sent him some gifts.

someone suggested I check the other books. I checked the smaller one next to it. This is what i found.

a guy came in with a laptop kinda wandering around and sat down across the room from me. At this point I’m suspicious of anyone who comes in

Shout out to the pizza guy who drove out here with this pizza! Whoever ordered it didn’t pay for it so he had to take it back.

I knew it was coming, someone was going to do this.

Here’s the pic again for shout-out to all the supporters. Still no one to cough up the moola

The messages became increasingly desperate, with Dang counting down the hours, then minutes until the deadline. “13 min left, still holding strong,” he wrote, then added, “3 mins left. Closing out soon.” Then, at 11 p.m.: “Looks like that’s it everyone. 11pm Original Note Creator didn’t show up.”

A disappointing ending, but at least no one got murdered…unless Dang is the murderer?!?
