‘Saints Row: Gat Out Of Hell’ Looks Like Van Art In New Gameplay Footage

We mean “van art” in the best way possible; this game looks, in classic Saints Row tradition, absolutely ridiculous. Marking the first time you take control of celebrity/homicidal maniac Johnny Gat, as you may have guessed, Gat’s in hell and he’s going to be either leaving or taking over.

Needless to say, this makes the guns even more ridiculous; there’s the Armchairgeddon, which is basically a ratty recliner with gatlings and missiles, and a gun that fires swarms of locusts. Also, you can fly now, and one assumes that strafing missions will be in the offing as a result. Did we mention that in co-op you’ll be able to play gleefully pervy nerd Kinzie?

A nice touch is that this is a standalone “expansion;” that is, it’s basically a full game you can just buy and download without getting Saints Row IV. So, if you just want to run around in Hell shooting demons with insects and not buy the full brilliant postmodern satire of gaming and its tropes, you can.

Gat Out Of Hell arrives January 27th as a digital download for past consoles and as part of the Saints Row IV: Re-Elected edition for PS4 and Xbox One.
